This release for Adobe Commerce and Magento Open Source brings new features, bug fixes, and several improvements to the platform. This includes over 140 quality fixes and 13 security fixes.
Performance and Scalability Enhancements
- Enhanced caching and indexing
- Improved purchase order and approval workflows for B2B implementations
- Integration of Google ReCAPTCHA with Magento’s built-in CAPTCHA module
Security Enhancements
Some of the security enhancements included in this release are GraphQL APIs and native rate limiting for REST, which focus on payment information protection during transmission and limiting the risk of unauthorized access. Account security has been strengthened by implementing more accurate verification methods via improved email validation behavior.
- Native rate limiting for REST and GraphQL APIs: Configure rate limiting for payment information transmitted using REST and GraphQL. This added layer of protection prevents carding attacks and potentially decreases the volume of carding attacks that test many credit card numbers simultaneously.
- Improved email validation behavior: This release improves email validation behavior, enhances account security, and prevents the misuse of email addresses, ensuring more accurate and reliable email verification.
Platform Upgrades
From performance, compatibility, and functionality, the 2.4.7-beta1 release introduces several platform upgrades, including:
- Compatibility with Composer 2.5.x: The latest version of Composer, a dependency management tool for PHP, is supported in this release. 2.2.x is still supported at this time.
- Compatibility with Varnish cache 7.3: The latest version of Varnish is supported with this release. While compatibility remains with 6.0.x and 7.2.x, Adobe recommends only using Varnish Cache version 7.3 or version 6.0 LTS with the Magento 2.4.7-beta1 release.
- Compatibility with RabbitMQ 311: RabbitMQ 3.9 will be supported through the end of August 2023, but it is recommended only to use RabbitMQ 3.11 with this new release.
- Upgraded JavaScript Libraries: In this release, outdated JavaScript libraries have been upgraded to their latest versions.
B2B Enhancements
There are multiple enhancements and new capabilities for B2B merchants in this release, such as:
- Seller-initiated quotes: Sales representatives can initiate quotes directly from the Quote and Customer grids within the Admin interface, expediting the negotiation process between buyers and sellers.
- Line item discounts: Discounts can be applied as a percentage reduction, fixed value, or extended pricing for specific line items within a quote, offering more flexible pricing options to buyers during the negotiation process.
- Note exchanges on quotes: Buyers and sellers can add notes to quotes. They are included in the line item and quote history for a complete record of the process and further enhance communication.
- Quote Detail view improvements: Enhancements include being able to add items by SKU or from the product catalog, add or modify notes, apply discounts to individual items, and directly access product configuration from the quote detail page for buyers and sellers.
Magento 2.4.7-beta1 allows merchants to enhance security, improve performance, and seamlessly integrate modern technologies. After this Beta period, the finished product is scheduled for general release on October 10, 2023.
